About the Book

Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas, is around the corner from Bruins. It’s out in the country, and lots of good people call it home.

Bob Laster, who was inspired to publish this book after observing the dedication and energy of the local volunteer fire department, shares dozens of striking images that celebrate the community. His photographs give you a peek into the town’s past and present—and they show there’s no reason to rush through town.

Whether it’s towering clouds that touch the lake and reach for the moon, nesting birds, wildflowers and dew glistening in the morning sun, or the change of the seasons, you’ll be delighted and awed by the town’s beautiful scenery.

Bob Laster is a retired physician who has had an enthusiastic interest in photography for the last fifty years. During this time, he has photographed the countryside around Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas, including its lake scenery and surrounding countryside. Horseshoe Lake is just one of the many small communities that contribute to the strength of the United States of America.
