A Heavenly Call

The phone rang and woke me, it was quarter to seven,

Hi, Mommy, it’s Bari, I’m calling from Heaven.

It’s been quite a long time, her little voice said,

I’m sorry if I got you out of your bed.

I was remembering, Mommy, about the day that I died,

How you climbed in my bed and laid right by my side.

Your arms wrapped around me, we were both very still,

You whispered you loved me, said you always will.

You held me so tenderly, then started to cry,

As they took me away, you kissed me good-bye.

We all know the doctors did what they could,

My life with you Mommy was happy and good.

Heaven’s so beautiful, and I’m feeling fine,

All the pain I once had, was left behind.

And now Daddy’s here with me, we walk hand in hand,

I’m sorry our lives couldn’t go as we planned.

I know your heart’s broken through all of these years,

As you wash off my headstone each week with your tears.

I just called to remind you of the love in my heart,

For you, my dear Mommy, even though we’re apart.

I will always remember the love that we shared,

Please stop feeling sad, I know how much you care.

Someday in the future... it will again be us three,

Because we love each other––you, Daddy and me.
