Time What is there now left to do with time? Each minute’s hand has now strengthened to hours Now rolled in my mind. The quiet and still episodes weigh heavily in time, Life’s fragments now frozen and refined.
What if I could erase this past time? Yell “cut” and direct to change the lines. Would our lives be reformed to a different kind? To make what once was revived and developed in this mind?
Now, bare neglect has quenched with rhyme, The movements of solitude circulating in this mind, Can you not allow this one last time To make joy rejuvenate our lives through these life lines?
A dancer’s single figure lifts so fine, With body fully formed delineating each line, Straight back, curved arms, legs beat in time, Then to a stand still before the music is out of time.
Time, splendid time, you have beaten me this time, I relinquish to your determination, defined Take the surrender as I decline To battle with the realm of your precious incline.
Songs of Spring time
The lilac of the flowers bloom, Cherry blossoms open on each branch, Floral tiles scatter the ground, Dew drops form mist on silk petals as they grow.
Songs of birds chirp a hymnal tune, Inspirations from the beams of the sunshine flow, Each reaper now to glean their sow, The songs of spring cheer soft and low.
The damp cool grass beneath this toe, Forms a web mold no more covered with snow; The water of the lake loose now from below, Where high above revealed figures saunter in rows.
Chirpy and dapper motions scatter below, The warm feel of spring wraps emotions now known, Revelations of hope raise parties from knees, The sound as crisp as the air’s cool breeze.
Listen closely to the songs of spring, The wind echoes blowing dust from each dove’s wing, The golden glimmer first cast by the newly sung spring, Hosts of chorals as the angels sing.
Glenely Bay
The fine sand provides a washboard for the water, As it wipes and rushes across the beach. The shore lined with blooming plum trees The water rushes over the mangrove stems beneath the sand.
The taste of the sweet salt flavors the air, Amidst the concave, vast basin of the bay. The tide now high as the evening sets in, The sky a watery pale pink turning blue.
Beyond a few fishing boats of green and blue wade, Figures of fisherman figures lean over to cast, Inhabitants gather as the evening approaches, Laughter and conversation interrupt the background bell’s chimes.
The somber tones of brass echo across the bay. Seagulls swoop and make isolated cries, With deep sounds squawking through the waves of air. Aromas of thyme and stewing tomatoes beckon wanderers home.
Single sounds of waves interrupt the quiet of the evening, Old Glenely Bay! Your familiarity invades as one approaches knowingly to the sea, Your silent murmur on the still shore cools your peaceful mood. One single star shines bright as the day turns to night, A guiding light for any sailors now lost beyond sight.
Cheers to you
A day of cheer for you To think that life has been all about you As sturdy as the ancient monuments passed. Always thinking that it will all last
My friend, it is your anniversary Where one’s heart has chimed one million cheers, Each for what has been redeemed Ecstatic that you have sought defeat The fermenting ails now at your feet.
Like the statue at the place Vendome, Gilded with gold and of sturdy stone, Hailed as the finest battle of all. This day for you is your victory As age entails with rigid and brittle discourse.
Last winter of our discontent Hail to Him who made winds vent. Today, sound the horn in gratitude, This day is yours to see us through.

About the Book
Glenely Bay and Nostalgia from Paris is a collection of thirty-eight poems written over the past several years by author Gabrielle Culmer. The idea of Glenely Bay is inspired by the tropical area of part of Culmer’s ancestral origins in Eleuthera, where she spent her early summers. The poems were written from different exotic and luxurious locations. They chronicle travel, family life, renewal, personal enhancement, an appreciation of nature, and pride, among other topics.
Included in this unique collection are poems such as “Songs of Spring Time,” “Holiday Tune,” “Window,” “Mayfair Morning,” “Time,” and “Glenely Bay.” In addition, Culmer recounts her memories of the time she spent in France with the poems, “Beneath the Eiffel’s Core,” “Reflections from Paris,” “Summer Chateau,” and “Cheers to You,” which are also translated into French.
The poems included in this collection have the transformative ability to offer a new and serene awareness of nature and the world around us.

About the Author
Gabrielle F. Culmer is a lawyer with degrees from universities in New York, Chicago, and the United Kingdom. She is also the author of Arrive by Dusk (2013), Damp Whisper (2012/3), A Matter of Keeping (2009), and one previous collection of poetry, Blue Streams to Paradise (2006).She enjoys traveling to New York, London, Paris, and The Bahamas.
