Finally, April had to quit thinking. She could only take so much of the past at one time and she was ready to let go again for a few hours. It occurred to her that in her dreams she never knew what happened to the other children, but she knew she had been saved and hoped she could help save the other someday. As she closed her eyes in sleep, her worst fears confronted her in another similar dream: The children were still at the end of the tunnel but behind the others was a man with ropes in his hands. As she watched in her dream, the man tied the children to each other and started to lead them away. The dream faded and she woke in a cold sweat. God, she hated the dark!

Rachael McGovern thought she found the perfect man in her charming, handsome husband Matthew. She can’t believe the monsters that exist in America with no one the wiser. The pedophiles she deals with look like friendly neighbors, kind postmen, and respectable teachers. They hide in plain sight, which makes her job even harder.
Rachael and April’s lives collide in a horrific and unexpected way when certain truths are revealed about Rachael’s “perfect family”. Rachael, of course, can’t believe the truth about the man she married, but April won’t stop searching until her case is solved. Both women must come to terms with the terrors of reality, but will either of them heal from wounds much deeper than skin?

K.E. Wass has a Master’s in psychology and taught high school before joining the real estate business. Now retired, she was an industry leader for thirty years before selling her firm to an international company. She and her husband live in Southern California with their Jack Russell terriers, Chase and Toby.
