On the way home Joe Joe asked Margaret Ann why she called Owen and Parker “blow fish” and Margaret Ann explained. “Some people are full of criticism, which sometimes hurts and dims the light that burns inside us.” “Do you know what the definition of cirticism is in the dictionary,” asks Margaret Ann. “No” said Joe Joe. “Criticism is something people do to puff themselves up at the expense of others”, said Margaret Ann. “Really”, says Joe Joe. “Well, that’s how my Mom explains it”, said Margaret Ann. “Have you ever seen a blow fish?” asks Margaret Ann. “It defends itself against predators by blowing up into a ball. It has poisonous spines that keep it from becoming another animal’s dinner.” “It’s like magic, but even better”. “So maybe people who criticize are afraid someone else’s light will shine brighter than their light and that’s why they are full of criticism”, said Margaret Ann.
