About the Book
When Ryan finds a small mouse in his mashed potatoes, he secretly decides to keep it for a pet, having to hide it until dismissal. In his desk the mouse squeaks, then escapes. With humor, chaos erupts in the classroom, ruffling cockatiel feathers, and causing Miss Blake to break her own room rule. Can Ryan rescue the mouse? With rich vocabulary, rhythmic language and delightful illustration, the story unfolds with surprise ending. Questions built into the script on the last pages encourage imagination and lively discussion. An Extended Activities page is included for teachers and parents with suggestions for use at home or in the classroom.
