Spiritual Mechanics

Making sense of our existence in this complex universe has been an everlasting saga of the human race. Century after century has passed, and mankind has moved from caveman status to civilization of the twenty-first century. Most of our knowledge and scientific accomplishments have revolved around our physical, mechanistic, and materialistic perspectives of our existence. We are a race accustomed to believing in something once we see concrete evidence. We like to touch, feel, gather data, test, retest, stratify, screen, measure, analyze, and reproduce the studies. Then we tend to reach a conclusion, which is very easy to accomplish with the physical materials of our everyday reality. However, doing research with an abstract concept like the mind and its processes is very difficult.

I won’t deny that we have achieved some progress in behavioral research, which is the outcome of mental processes, but it’s not the same when we do research on any other organ of the body with hard-core evidence. As a result, our progress has been the slowest. We are conquering Mars. We are prolonging lives with state-of-the-art medical technology. We are able to communicate with one another faster than the speed of light, and so on and so forth. The question is, then, why we are seeing man-made disasters, wars, and mass killings? Our planet is in peril due to our materialistic, mechanistic approach to our existence.
