Imagine that you could have a heart-to-heart talk with your 15-year-old self. Whether you have to go back in time or you’re at that age today, if you could give yourself a piece of advice, what would it be?
-Would you hold yourself tight and say that everything will be OK?
-Would you say that you shouldn’t take life too seriously?
… You are good enough?
… Believe in yourself?
… Spend time on your personal growth?
… Work harder?
… Study more?
… Laugh more?
… Stress less?
How would that conversation play out?
I was asked that question about a year ago and it made me reminisce about the past. It awakened a lot of memories, both good and bad. I had so much to tell my 15-year-old self about life; I wished I had more clarity on my “I” earlier in life. So I dedicated the next year and a half to writing this book to my teenage self in the hopes of inspiring others. My only intention was to create clarity for my inner youth; if I knew then what I know now, I would have lived my life more passionately.
When I was a teenager, I didn’t believe in myself because I didn’t know my purpose. I was not dedicated to anything. I spent too much time on social media and comparing myself physically to others, trying to match society’s idea of perfection. All things physical became the center of my universe since I did not know how to center myself. If I had been dedicated to something outside of myself, but was empowered with passion from within myself, I would have become aligned with my purpose.
As life happens and changes occur your choice of career can be a major turning point in your life. This decision alone has the potential to open the door for success or close the door of opportunity. While you might think this is an individual choice, a variety of influences such as family, school, community, and social and economic factors are likely to influence your ultimate career decision. You may seek acceptance by adopting your family’s values or try to fit in with society’s expectations. You may aspire to a career that follows your family’s and society’s norms and values without developing your own sense of self because you do not have the proper coaching and the right tools to figure yourself out.
With the right tools and exercises to create clarity about yourself and what you are truly passionate about, you can take charge and be in control of your own destiny. The path you take in life should be influenced by your own personal growth, aligned with the talent you were born with and what excites your soul.
This book is divided in two sections:
The first part of the book is the letter to my 15-year-old self in which I share my philosophy on a way of life and psychological well-being that has helped center my “I” in life. By sharing this personal letter to myself, my intention is to inspire you to create clarity for yourself and also give ease to your psychological well-being.
The second part of the book consists of hands-on exercises that will help guide you in the search for your purpose in life. By equipping you with the right set of tools, I will help you create clarity on your I in life.
This book is for anyone who wants to shed light and create focus for his or her own personal growth. God knows how many times I’ve stopped so far to check myself in life, and I have no doubt I will be doing so a couple more times in my journey. So, this one is for you… so that at any stage of your life, you can stop and center yourself by creating clarity on:
Who am I?
Where am I going?
How do I get there?
I dedicate this book to all of our “15-year-old selves,” in the pursuit of living the perfect life.
Looking at the world today, I know a shift in awareness is needed to make it a better place. I believe the shift comes from being enlightened with our individual purpose. I work on my craft and personal growth with the intention of inspiring others around me; I hope the same for you. You can bring awareness and clarity to this world only by bringing it to yourself first. When you are aligned with your purpose, you can exceed society’s norm.
Lastly, I believe we are all one energy. The same sensation you feel throughout your veins right at this exact moment, I feel in my veins. I feel the vibrating sensation of the divine, and it brings a smile to my face knowing that I am not alone. I see you and feel your presence. Thank you for being here.
