About the Book
During the 1940s through the 1970s, there were few restaurants in small towns in the Deep South. A pastor often drove to preach at a church that could be two to three hours from his or her home. Providing a meal for the preacher and the preacher’s family was an important service.

About the Author
Mary Page-Clay served as a classroom teacher, an assistant principal, and a principal in her more than forty-year career,. Mary has four children and four grandchildren. She resides in Colorado Springs with her husband. This is her first children’s book.
Robert Hall majored in commercial art and advertising design. He has illustrated fifteen books and created silhouettes for the movie The Color Purple. One of his pieces was featured in the movie Nights in Rodanthe. He resides in Delway, North Carolina.
