IN A DREAM
A man, a woman
In a dream
Walked to the middle
Of a dam.
On one side,
White water cascadingly flows,
On the other,
A still blue lake glistens.
A cool breeze causes
Bumps on the woman’s arms.
In twilight
The man views
A flock of fowl
Lit on the lake.
He knows he sees a rare thing,
Feels a rare feeling.
His heart is toward the woman.
Wiping sweat from his palm,
He takes the woman’s hand,
Barely knowing, gently touching.
Her arms now feel no chill.
Wild birds, excited,
Take to flight.
A man and a woman
In a dream but real they feel

Paul Chrisstarlon Wesselhöft is just like all of us. On his spiritual journey through life, he has experienced frustrations and disappointments, joys and triumphs, and the heartache and sorrow of finding and then losing love.

About the Author
Paul Chrisstarlon Wesselhöft is a Vietnam era veteran and retired army chaplain who served in the Airborne, 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Infantry, and in combat in the first Persian Gulf War, Desert Shield, and Desert Storm. He formerly served six terms in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, and is currently a Representative of Oklahoma in the national legislature of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Wesselhöft is the author of The Redfeather Pentalogy.
