About the Book
Eight-year-old Mina is having a typical day. She has her favorite breakfast and then skips the whole way to school. There she has history and English and recess, just like normal.
But then the principal asks Mina to come into her office and speak to her mommy on the phone. Because her mommy is going to be late, she tells Mina to go to the next-door neighbor’s house after school. The neighbor, Alice, has two big dogs, Ghost and Sandy, that she rescued and adopted. Although Alice isn’t home, Mina’s ready to have a good time. She has a snack and takes care of the dogs, who also see their friends Jaime the turtle and Ginger the pot-bellied pig. It isn’t her regular routine, but Mina has fun anyway.
In this children’s book, a little girl has an unusual afternoon staying with her neighbor’s dogs and keeping herself busy when her mother is running late.
