Luella tells Mr. Santos, "I am not going to ask for anything this year. My father has taken an extra job in town because money is very tight."
Then Mr. Santos asks again, "My precious little Lu, if you could ask for anything, what would it be?"
Luella replies, "I have always wanted a wooden sled with metal runners. In fact, I mentioned this sled in my letter to Santa, but no one else knows. Not even Momma and Poppa know that I want a sled."

About the Book
Luella and her neighbor Mr. Santos love to meet at Henry’s pond to feed their duck friends and visit about the happenings of the day.
The Christmas holiday has arrived. Change is in the air. The ducks will be flying to warmer places. Mr. Santos will be away on vacation. Luella will discover a special surprise about a special someone.

About the Author
Nancy Gaenzle was born and raised in a small town in southern Idaho on the Camas Prairie. Her love for wildlife comes from her grandmother, Mary Gaenzle, who had a special fondness for birds. Nancy, a retired schoolteacher, has one daughter, Marta, and one granddaughter, Luella. The Luella books are named after her granddaughter. The characters are named after actual family members to honor their legacy and their positive influence on her life.
Paul Bush, originally from Detroit, grew up in Idaho a child of two engineers. He too had his sights set on a career in engineering but decided calculus wasn’t nearly as fun as drawing. Paul attended Utah State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Art, with an emphasis in Illustration. While Paul is new to illustrating children’s storybooks, he has been creating illustrations and animations for the healthcare information industry for years including education geared towards children. His work has been recognized and awarded in the industry.
