Time Is Not Lost

As a young man, I had quite a journey. I saw my early turmoil vanish and my youthful dreams come true. The drive to be someone took me to uncharted waters and I tasted success prematurely. I rose high, only to fall. I twisted and turned along my path with wonder. Yet I moved on without fear to take on new challenges. When I was down I felt confident and I rose back up again. Life was an adventure, and time did not matter.

I danced in hope and tumbled in despair. Adversity did not deter my drive to move forward. The friction I encountered developed my character, and the trials perfected my awareness. I played with fire yet I did not get burned. Even though I was betrayed, I was not destroyed. When battles were severe I kept my head high. Hardships prepared me for a better future. I sustained my strength by refusing to surrender. The feelings derived from this cannot be measured with time.

I was an orphan no more. I was given much early on. Many loved me, more than I could love myself. My wounds healed, my inner strength grew and I mustered my faith with grace. I learned to give and to receive. I was grateful for my abundant life.

Timeless years and decades passed with frequent blessings and moments of joy. I climbed mountains and walked through deep valleys, as if they were one. Dark nights turned into morning light. I breathed and thanked heaven for the gratitude I received. I found peace within myself and kicked out my fear. I cherished loving friendships and upheld my dignity with loyalty. I loved all who shared my life and forgave those who chose not to.

I knew, as I got close to the twilight of my life, how fortunate I had been. All the years past did not count as time lost, and the years that followed would be a river of today’s moments to enjoy. Time became endless and everlasting.

I finally had a unique relationship that was shared with a similar lifestyle and a quieter life. I learned that when it comes to relationships, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I continued to write books while my partner continued to study. We were blessed with true love for one another.

I did not regret the hard times, but cherished the lessons learned from the past. Life experiences were enriching and provided foresight and undisputed wisdom. The physical experiences became non-physical thoughts that dwelled in my inner being, which focused only on the present moment. I tried to enjoy every moment and look forward to a happy future full of unknown possibilities. With this transformation, I realized that the “time” that has passed me was not time lost.
