Mystery at Camp Piney Woods

“I just hope we can keep up and find out what’s in the woods,” said AJ.

“Or who,” said Su Li.

“I don’t see the light anymore,” said Su Li. “Oh, look there it’s over there to the left.”

They hurried in the direction of the light while following the riding trail as quickly and quietly as they could. After a few minutes the light changed direction and headed further into the woods so AJ, Su Li, and Cory had to leave the riding trail to follow it.

Do you have the ribbons?” asked AJ.

“Right here in my pocket,” said Su Li. “I’ll start tying the ribbons to trees so we can find our way back to the cabin.”

“Don’t take too long,” said Cory. “The light is moving faster.”

They hurried after the light. They were a little way into the woods when the wind started to blow. Tree branches swayed and the leaves rustled. The branches looked like arms reaching out for them. One branch snagged Su Li’s shirt causing her to stumble and fall.

”Oomph,” she said as hit the ground.

“Su Li, are you okay?” asked AJ.

“Just had the wind knocked out of me,” she said. Her voice shook a little as she spoke.

“Do you want to sit for a minute?” asked AJ.

“No, I’m okay.” Su Li stood up and brushed off her clothes. “We better keep going or we’ll lose the light.”

Off they went following the light. About five minutes later the light stopped moving and they thought they heard talking. They turned off their flashlights and crept closer, being careful not to make a sound. They stopped at the edge of the clearing behind some bushes.
