Ghost in Time

She decided to double checked the schedule for the day then she slipped out the stage door. She so wanted to talk to Langdon. Caitlin walked towards her Honda Civic parked in the field by the entrance of the studio. It was a rather quiet day, and she did not see the man cross the lot and intercept her path. “Miss O’Connor. I want to talk to you.” He was a short sandy haired man with nondescript looks and he wore a leather jacket. She was immediately frightened by his tone. It was not that reporter who had asked a myriad of questions such as source material or why did conjure up a slightly different vision of the English private detective. Caitlin’s instincts told her there was something different about him. She recoiled. “Hey, I’m talking to you bitc-” he wrenched her wrist. Caitlin was immediately frozen with terror. Her heart raced. His grasp was relentlessly tight. “Let go of me.” she tried to pull away. He refused to release her, and she deliberately began to scream at the top of her lungs very much scared for her life. “I said let go! Let me go!” Her wrist hurt and she could feel the circulation being cut off. She tried to tug free, but he had caught her off guard. “Who are you are you to write that movie about that-” she continued to struggle and pulled away with a consistent yell for help. “Let go!!!” Eventually, people stirred and raced from different directions including David Warren and the two startled movie leads Erickson and McKenna. A security guard sprinted towards the commotion. Erickson was the first to reach them and the man stumbled backwards then burst into frenzy. “Call the LAPD” Erickson hollered to another security guard. Erickson and Warren tried to corner him, but the man fled across the lot past the screams of visitors. McKenna yelled for them to close the gate entrance. “Lock down!” Erickson told one of the guards. People frantically dispersed and several security guards raced across the grounds in heated pursuit of the intruder. He fled by sets, workers, extras and actors in costume and finally one guard was certain he was cornered near set twelve. “I may have him-” was heard over the security handsets. When he turned the corner, the man was nowhere to be seen. Erickson had caught up with him, sweaty but none-the-less still active in the chase. He heard McKenna shout. “Close the gate!” “How the hell did he get away!” the actor exclaimed. “God, knows.” The security guard stammered. “I thought I had him!” He called it in over his radio and heard the LAPD were on-route. “If it’s on camera- we should be able to get a good picture of him.” Erickson shook his head. Most of the fans were quite normal and yet there were some that were verbally loud or were completely obsessed. He was not certain which category this one fit in, but he had to admit, it was unusual for crew to be targeted. The guard stood irresolute. “Maybe he wanted a copy of the script.” “Not a bad suggestion.” Erickson was surprised. This suggestion was deemed the most favorable by police when they arrived. Yet, he was still nowhere to be seen and did not grab the souvenir he wanted. He exhaled and was content he did a good workout at the gym. The man was nowhere in sight. He had quite literally, like a ghost… As quickly, as he approached Caitlin- the man had vanished into thin air.
