About the Book

Where did Mimi Go? is a story about the love and loss of a grandparent, meant for children in their early years after the death of someone special. Mimi is gone, and the world seems darker and sad. However, there’s no need to cry. Mimi is still all around!

See her in the joy of a smile. She is near when you’re wrapped up in blankets, drinking hot cocoa. She is in both storms and sunshine. Mimi might no longer stand by your side, but you can always find her in your heart.

This story is intended to help children recognize the importance of remembering and realizing that our loved ones are always close. Although no longer a physical presence, family members who have left us live on through fond thoughts and stories.

About the Author

Laura Mariani is a first-time author and a graduate of Cornell University. Mariani lives in Winters, California, with her husband Matthew and three children, Miles, Mia and Ty. This story was written after the loss of her mother, Ruthann, otherwise known as “Mimi.”
