About the Book
Cocoa is a chubby, little pony. He’s the biggest small pony people have ever seen. He dreams of being slim enough to take little kids on trail rides. Cocoa embarks on an ambitious weight loss plan and exercise routine.
He works hard every day, but unfortunately, he doesn’t lose any weight. He’s fit, and he’s faster and stronger but not any smaller. Still sad, Cocoa is resigned to stay in the corral alone. Then, one day, a boy has an idea and Cocoa finally gets to join his friends on the trail.
This rhyming picture book for children shares Cocoa’s story, telling how his hard work propels him to be a hero and a leader of his herd.
About the Author
Barb Benninger grew up on a farm with horses and then raised her children on a horse and cattle farm. She rode her quarter horse, Cocoa, every day for many years. The farm was graced with a number of chubby ponies throughout the years, enjoyed by all the children who learned to ride there.
