Going to preschool can be a scary time for children. In When Will My Mommy Pick Me Up?, Johnny misses his mother when she drops him off at preschool. At Johnny’s age, he tells time through events. Johnny struggles throughout the day as his teacher, Ms. Jarvis, tries to calm him down using the daily schedule to sequence his day. She tries everything to help him understand the sequence of the day but to Johnny, it seems as if his mother is never coming to pick him up from preschool.
This picture book follows Johnny as he patiently waits for his mom while his teacher guides him through a busy day at preschool. It shares the importance of how teachers and parents can use daily schedules and routines to support emotional stability in their children.
