“My mommy told me flowers can make things better, I’m happy you like my shirt. My mommy also said she will be coming back home soon but I’m not sure about that; something always happens. My heartache feels like it will never go away. It’s always going to be there.”
“It will get easier; things will change with time.” Replied the Elk.
Upset by the Elks words and ready to run back home she yelled:
“Nothing is getting easier with time. Only bad things happen. I don’t like time.”
“You can’t keep running.” Calmly said the Elk.
“Yes I can. You can’t, you're stuck here, I’m not stuck here, I can run anytime I want.”
“You already run Levi. That’s why you'r here, and I’m not stuck here, I can leave. I'm just not sure where running from here will take me. And things are never just forever, they change.”
Visibly upset she argued:
“My mom will always be sick. That’s forever. And you know what else is forever? My love for her and her love for me, that’s forever. You can’t understand time and change,

About the Author
Raphaela Damm Stoneman, a sensitive girly girl, born in Belgium to a French American father and an American mother, raised in Israel, lived through a childhood painted by heartache, trauma, and an uncommon and often misunderstood home life. In her writing, rather than having a narrator’s description, Raphaela often adds her character’s inner thoughts. This offers her readers an intimate point of view, which can be experienced alongside the character. Stoneman now lives happily in California and is the mother of three, grown, young men. She loves love, food, and dancing to a blend of random genres of music.
