In what seemed like a second, we were back in the dusky and chill laboratory. It put us all at ease, if but for a moment. James dashed over to the control panel and pulled the lever slowly down, closing off the doorway to Sara’s world. We watched as the vortex of light shimmered and swirled before gradually fluctuating back and forth like a dancing flame. As James neared the off position the light began to evaporate giving off a hissing sound until finally disappearing with a whip crack, like a light bulb shattering. He flicked the switch cover down, shutting off the machine entirely before turning to me and Sara with a look of relief.

About the Author
The fields of science revolving around physics, astrophysics, and quantum physics have always fascinated Colin Kubiaczyk. Within the scientific community, the Multiverse Theory inspired him. Theoretical physicists such as Michio Kaku and Lisa Randall piqued his interest into the idea of dimensions beyond our universe, while books such as The Man in the High Castle and The Mist allowed his mind to wander to the fantastical nature of such concepts.
