“…Little Bee was excited with the idea of having an adventure. So, for the first time, she did something she had never done before. Little Bee ventured away from her quiet hive in search of other creatures whom she hoped might guide her.” Before long, she came to a stream with swirling pools of cool water. Not far from shore, neither still nor swimming, was a fish moving slowly with the rhythm of the water. Seeing Little Bee buzzing above, Fish rose to the surface. “Hello, little friend,” said Fish, “what are you doing here by the stream? Shouldn’t you be at your hive with your sisters and brothers?” “I should be, I suppose,” said Little Bee, “but I have a feeling there is something very important I need to do. Do you, Creature of the Water, know what it is?” Fish replied, “Dear Little Bee, you need to wait - wait for the Star Father.” And with that Fish slipped gently back under the swirling water. Little Bee was filled with wonder. She had never heard of the Star Father, but hearing that name gave her a warm feeling and she was determined to know more…”

About the Author Rachel Solt is an educator, mentor, and storyteller with a deep love for the natural world. She spent her childhood exploring the forests of New England with her dog Pippa, and listening to stories, fairytales, and nursery rhymes told by her parents. A mother and stepmother of three adult children, Rachel now lives on a hilltop where the jungle meets the sea.
