My life has been a series of milestones, like stepping stones in a brook. I’ve jumped from rock to rock—some large, where I land solidly in the middle; others small, requiring careful balance to stay in place. Some stones are slimy and covered with moss, making them treacherous and sometimes disastrous to jump on. I’ve jumped on more than I’d like to admit, falling, losing my balance, scraping my knees, getting up, and eventually moving on. Sounds easy? Well, I'd be lying if I said it was. This book is a collection of stories and milestones from my life, encompassing moments of lack of confidence, failure, and success. I’ve also woven in stories of remarkable women I’ve met along the way. I asked them to consider five questions and choose the one that resonated with them the most: What does confidence mean to you? Who is a role model for you in showing confidence? Can you share how confidence has helped you overcome obstacles or pushed you beyond what you thought you could do? What daily practices or readings do you engage in to grow your confidence? What advice would you give a younger woman seeking greater confidence? Confidence, by definition, is the belief that one can rely on someone or something; it's a firm trust. Having self-confidence means having faith in oneself. What is confidence? How do we acquire it? Are we born with it, or is it something we learn through life's challenges? Some of the most harrowing experiences can build confidence, sometimes bordering on cockiness. Yet, I’ve also witnessed individuals who struggle through difficult times without recovery, becoming introverted and stuck in the drama. So, what does it take to build our confidence? How do we motivate ourselves to gain confidence? Being confident means knowing you can handle the emotional outcomes of life’s challenges. Start by acknowledging every emotion, including the difficult ones, rather than avoiding them. Speaking up for yourself, limiting self-criticism, and employing other strategies can help build emotional strength and confidence. I had pondered writing this book for a long time. Finally, putting it into print required great courage and confidence. What was holding me back? Why was I feeling stuck? I needed to break out of my bubble, understand my purpose, and let my best self shine. Allow these tips and stories to inspire you to break free from any slump, try new things, discover your calling, aim higher, and be the best version of yourself.
