The Wooden Muse

Have you ever wondered how things came to be? Before the magic of inventions today, back in the days of old the only way to record an event, a person, or a place, was through art. On any given day, one could see artists creating drawings, paintings, or sculptures, manifesting wonderful works of art. On this particular day, a very gloomy looking man sat… longing and wishing… A small woman passing by could not help but notice the man who seemed so lost in his woe. She paused and spoke to him, “Why are you so troubled… you may tell me. Many people come to me with their problems. It always feels better to talk to someone. Perhaps, I can help you…”. The man listened but did not raise his head. He gave thought to what she said. He mumbled quietly to himself “Perhaps talking to someone could help… ”. “Speak up, what is your name?” asked the woman. “Dominic” he said slowly in a sad low tone. “Well Dominic, it is a pleasure to meet you” she said. Her voice was like a whisper on the wind…and Dominic gazed upward. There, stood a small woman with a bag over her shoulders. Her clothes told nothing of wealth or wisdom, but for some unknown reason… Dominic decided to tell her everything.
