Mom and I talked about us. Well, more about what she and dad talked about. She said we’d call your parents today, if you wanted to.
Sure, I do.
She said you need to at least wish them a Happy 4th of July.
I agree Joan. Let’s go back and call my parents before going for fireworks.
Yes, let’s do.
As they turned to walk back down the trail to the cabin, they heard something coming on the trail, running out of the woods.
Oh, Jesse it’s a bear. She said it with alarm in her voice.
Jesse moved her back behind him. Blocking himself between her and the oncoming bear, trying to back them off the trail. The bear was moving fast down the path, and was startled by their presence. The bear paused a step but kept on coming. Jesse first thought how strange, but as the bear passed, it threw a paw up at Jesse. The blow knocked Jesse back almost off his feet. Trying to stand back up, the pain hit him.
Joan said; “your bleeding Jesse”.
The bears paw had brushed by and hit him just below his knee, more to his shin. Wearing shorts, you could see the bleeding really well, but they couldn’t tell how bad the cuts to his leg were. There appeared to be four cuts and bleeding badly. Joan took her top off and wrapped it tight around his leg. Then took her belt and secured her top as tight as she could covering the bleeding area.
Jesse, we got to go. We have to walk back to the cabin.
Joan call, your mom. Tell her what happened.
As she helped Jesse limp back toward the cabin, she got her mom on the phone.
“Mom, send dad down the trail to help us.”
Why, what’s wrong?
A bear attacked us.
