About the Book

The story of a Confederate cavalry colonel from Mississippi who had never surrendered and considered himself still a serving Confederate officer in 1869 when he is forced to kill a Union captain in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Realizing the Union Army wants to hang him, he escapes to Texas where he engages in gunbattles, is involved in romances, and is tried twice for murder.


About the Author

A retired Texas trial lawyer who lives in McKinney, Texas, with his cat, “Smudge,” where he reads, writes, and plays chess with his computer. In addition to legal briefs, his previous writings have consisted of articles and short stories for American Mensa’s Bulletin and Intertel’s Integra monthly magazines.
