About the Book

I've always loved food, inspired by my family that cooked amazing meals. Motherhood sparked a new focus: What's best for kids? This book introduces 25 healthy, brain-boosting foods for kids and parents to enjoy together.

When my son struggled with an egg allergy and eczema, I was forced to create a special diet tailored to his needs. I wanted these foods to be wholesome, easy to source, and appealing to our entire family. To ensure I was on the right track, I consulted allergists, pediatricians, nutritionists, naturopaths, and dietitians from around the world. Through this process, I crafted a plan that worked best for us. This book simply introduces the ideas that have been successful for our family, with the hope of inspiring others to try new foods.

About the Author

Shelly Lu is a new author based in San Diego, California. She started her career by co-founding a marketing company in Miami, Florida at the young age of 22. She was successful in the branding space, however found her true creative passions when she started designing and organizing large corporate functions. Her work took her all over the world, using her creative eye to bring her upscale flair to otherwise stale corporate events.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Shelly found creative solace at her home in San Francisco, where she began writing and sketching. Inspired by stories from her grandfather and friends, she created Blue Milko, a gentle blue dog who became a beloved imaginary friend for children. After gifting handmade copies to loved ones, Shelly partnered with Paris-based illustrator Nico to bring the character to life. Today, Blue Milko helps children worldwide find comfort and sleep soundly during uncertain times.
Recognizing the importance of both sleep and diet, Shelly’s next book focuses on food. Through conversations with fellow mothers in her community, the most common topic was what to feed their children and what to avoid.
As a mother, Shelly’s experience with her son’s egg allergy and eczema led her to develop a specialized diet tailored to his needs. Collaborating with health experts globally, she crafted a plan that worked for her family. Her book shares these insights, encouraging others to explore nourishing, wholesome food options.
