1. I think of those rare, dear days past,
When round and round and round I went
With no worries to rant about,
And not a cent I spent.
2. Then I saw how in silence they
Toiled hard and tried to foot the bill,
For all my varied needs, and then
Wished my days will stay still.
3. But soon dear days to decades turned,
And here and near and there I went
With much to do and merely earned
Enough to pay my rent.
4. So, ‘twas my time to do as they;
Spent I, and spared not e’en a cent
To bring my offspring all that’s due
For needs such as a tent.
5. Life’s spinning wheel will ne’er relent,
Goes round and round; spend and be spent,
E’en when apart from earth be rent,
The next man shall be sent.

About the Book
This book is a compilation of poems written over many years. The poems cover comedy, short stories, and topics people discuss in their daily lives. Some are the author’s interpretation of biblical scriptures. Others are based on the author’s life experience, including events he has witnessed and people he has observed. Inspired by Shakesperean and Italian Sonnets, the author has written several of his own in various forms. The author has included some Limericks in this book which he started writing for fun and decided to share for your reading pleasure.
About the Author
Ray Orocco-John currently works as an engineer and adjunct professor and writes poetry in his spare time for fun. He holds master’s degrees in electrical engineering and business administration. He currently lives in Maryland.
